Tang Bohu Landscape Chinese Scroll Painting – Silk Wall Art – Blue-Green Pagoda

This Blue-Green Pagoda scroll by Tang Bohu carries centuries of brush tradition in a single image. Nothing about it needs explaining. It gives a room its soul, not just its style. The overall effect is greater than the sum of its parts.

The silk ground lends the ink a softness that paper rarely achieves. Mountain is given pride of place, and rightly so. Waterfall is what lends the scroll its distinctive voice. Pine trees are rendered with affection, and it shows. The waterfall was a favorite of scholar-painters precisely because it suggests good fortune that never runs dry.

It makes a thoughtful piece of symbolic Chinese artwork, especially for someone setting up a new home. It settles into minimalist Asian wall art the way a good book settles onto a shelf. To wrap up, a Blue-Green Pagoda scroll is a small, daily luxury worth having. The composition feels complete from every viewing distance.
